My name is Karly Manges and I am doing an internship at Kidz-R-Kidz Daycare. I would have to say that my best day was November 3. I feel this was my best day because I went into the daycare in the morning instead of the afternoon. Going during the morning I got to work more with the kids and I got to really understand what it was like to be a teacher and work with young children all day long. I also feel that the kids got to know me better because I was there for a longer time. I learned the kid’s daily routine and I also got me meet their parents. By going to the daycare in the morning and staying all day it really opened my eyes to my future career. After going all day I realized that I really do enjoy working with young kids and I would love to work with children as my career. I definitely think this day was the most beneficial so far. I hope to have more experiences like this one.

My name is Amanda Norberg and I have an internship at Wilson Greatbatch. I would have to say that the best day I had was on October 6th and October 8th. I started an excel sheet and had to copy and paste numbers from different sheets to a summary sheet. Some of it was very complicated because I didn't exactly know what I was doing until after I did it. When I was done doing it I understood what I was doing and why I was doing it. I thought this was my best day because it gave me something to do and I figured it out on my own and showed what they have to do. I did not finish this in one day, because it was such a big project and I had to make sure it was done right the first time so I don't have to do it again. I think that was a huge impact on my future career. This showed me what I have to look forward to for being an accountant. It also shows me what I am going to have to do on a regular basis and always being prepared to meetings as well. Overall this day I thought was the best day because it showed me what I had to do and try to figure out why I had to do this on my own.

- This was my best day because I was there at the restaurant for 6 hours and I got to feel what it was like to be in a kitchen for close to a full time shift. I was able to do a lot on this day including doing dishes, preparing food and learning quicker ways to prepare plates for 144 people. It was interesting.
- This Day may impact me on my future career plans because I will look back and remember how it was to spend 6 hours in a kitchen. I would wonder if I really liked being in a kitchen cooking and preparing food for 40 hours a week 5+ days a week. All experience with this internship will help me in deciding whether I want to be a chef.

-My Best Day was the best In Mr.Partells class because I got to Grade and make copys and help out, and i got 1:10 hours. I really have fun over there learning to be a teacher. It made me feel like a Teacher when I was Grading papers. And I learned quickly that answers for the same question will change from people to people.
- This Day will impact me on my future career plans because i will look back and remember how it was to be grading papers and how students answer vary all though they have the right idea but different words you where looking for, but the answer might not be wrong as along as the idea is there. All experience will this internship will help me in deciding whether or not I want to be a Teacher. and I do want to be a Teacher since I would like to make a mark on a childs life if I can.
I'm Jessica and I intern at Wilson Greatbatch. I mostly work on promoting events that are coming up at Greatbatch and help them with any little jobs that they don't have the time to do. The best day that I've had so far was probably on October 28. I would say this was my best day because the project that I was given was to research eight countries and make a poster for each country displaying information about it. They wanted these posters made so they could put them up for their cultural holiday festivities. I was then able to make the poster however I wanted it; they completely left it up to me. This was great because I could then put any facts I wanted on the poster, I could design it however I wanted to and they allowed me to have freedom on this. Once I began researching the countries, I was fascinated; it was great to learn about just the everyday greetings and how they differ from the ways we're used to. This day might impact my future career because this project allowed me to be creative, and working as an arts administrator requires one to be creative and to be able to promote, which is exactly what this project allowed me to do.

-->This was the first day that I had went with Barb to the Erie County Home. The environment as well as the patient's circumstances were completely different. And to be honest I felt a little bit uncomfortable at first. But I adjusted; there will be a lot of situations like that in my career. I was there to meet a man named Anthony. I wasn't given much information before hand, except for that he was known to be aggressive and was originally in the home due to serious heart problems.
-This Tuesday was my best day yet because I believe I learned the most this day. I learned how important it was to have background information; not just about the patient but in type of situation. It's also very important to be aware of people's boundaries and things that may set them off into a different mood.
-This is pretty vital in my career, mainly because I'll be dealing with many different people in different situations. Knowing and being very familiar with each's background info. will be very beneficial in the end. It'll help me prepare for their case as well as give me a feel for the patient and where they're coming from.
-After I had met with Anthony and had gotten the very wrong impression, Barb handed me his file and I saw was Anthony was really like. Whether or not he was lying to me, or he had really convinced himself of all the things he had told me, seeing the chart and being told somethings that had happened to him in the past explained a lot of his actions and his overall stance.
-I love Hospice. Although it's not exactly what I want to do in my future, I am so glad and lucky that I was able to have this experience. I've learned a lot from my mentor Barb, and myself; just from observing and backing up things that I had known before.

My name is Sarah. I intern at Dr. Steigler's office and I am interested in dental hygiene. The day of my "best day" was in the middle of March. I was there before the lunch break, and they were going out for lunch. I didn't have any money on me and I had packed my lunch. One receptionist offered to pay for me, but I said no. I wanted to get my work done while they were having their break. I thought it was very nice for someone to do that saying that she barley even knew me. I wasn't a friend to her or her kid. I'm a student trying my hardest to seek out my profession for my future. Now every time I go their she goes out of her way to say hello. :) That same day the dentist had me do some x rays and some cleaning of the utensils. I did all of the filing on time. Some of the patients were very talkative, and to see them talking when they have a million utensils in there mouth , along with someone's hand, and drool coming down the side of them makes me laugh. I just sit back and think to myself..."Now this is the job for me". I just have to learn not to laugh out loud.
ReplyDeleteMy name is Michael, and I intern at the Law Offices of Michael W. Cole, PLLC. My "best day" was yesterday, 5/13/2010. This was my best day because Mr. Cole and I went downtown to the Family Court House, Federal Court House, and the Law Library. It all started in traffic because of President Obama's visit. Instead of waiting in traffic, Mr. Cole and I parked at a local mechanic shop and walked a mile and a half to the court houses. On our way to the court houses we discussed different topics, such as current events, politics, and his experiences in the law field. Once at the Family Court House we had to wait upstairs at the Record Room to file a Motion. After we filed the Motion, we had to visit two judges (Carter and Vollavo) to drop off different types of paper work. Next we went to the Federal Court House where we had to pay for fines against the property of a client of ours and then Mr. Cole had to apply for a security pass to bypass security. Finally on our way back to the car we passed by the law library and showed me important information next time I accompany him.
ReplyDeleteThis was my best day yet because I finally experienced how it felt to be like an attorney downtown. This is because before this experience I only handled paperwork, letters, and cases within the office, but instead I learned different procedures downtown in which will be very helpful in the future. Mr. Cole once told me, "In all of my internships, I never learned the little procedures needed to go and file documents, that is why I am taking you here to learn now before you are an actual attorney." His talk to me really motivated me and in addition convinced me that he thinks that I can one day become an attorney. Finally by going downtown and experiencing different procedures gave me the realization of how much work is involved being a lawyer. This work refers to in the office work, such as letters, documents, talking to clients; plus outside the office work, as in filing documents, court appearances, meetings, and research.
My name is Lindsey Kocher, and I am doing an internship at the Erie County Home. My best day on the job was definately May 14, 2010. I hadn't had a good, beneficial day in quite a while. This day was different. I worked on Unit C, not my favorite, and I was helping out with "Name that Tune." I knew I wouldn't be doing much to help out, but the lady I was working with was real insistent I was to work with her that day. I didn't complain, and I did whatever I could to help. I began to wheel people to the dining room when I realized one of my favorite resdents lived on that Unit. Doris doesn't ever seem to be happy when I see her. She sticks to reading but alwasy finds something to complain about. Last time we had met, she wouldn't talk or participate in the activity. Doris thinks she is in prison in the Home. I tried to talk to her about her family, but that seemed to be a sore subject. No one deserves to be miserable, as she likes to call herself. On May 14, 2010 I made Doris my own personal grandma-at-the-Home. I made sure I sat next to her during the activity, and we discussed everything from my shoes and my shirt, to prom. She told me all about her favoite kindsof music, books, and even about her grandchildren. She told me she wanted me in the family, so I need to marry one of her grandsons. I told her that she sees books as an escape like I see sports. We connected. I had never seen that woman smile before that day. She is simply misunderstood, and I felt like I had taken the time to do what no one else seems to care to. She has a unique personality that is trying to survive in the conditions she lives in. She is stubborn and sarcastic but so am I. I joke around with her, because she needs to know that someone is listening to her there. I won't take iattitude from her, because she won't take it from me. We respect each other as human beings, not as patient and volunteer. That is all she ever wanted. If I could make a difference in one person's life, I could call my life a success. I can call my life a success already. I have never felt the joy I felt on that day from anything material or commericial. I felt real joy when Doris told me she couldn't wait to see her sweetheart come back with her prom pictures to show her. I did her one better, because I brought her books too. I know my goal in life is to help people. Whatever way that is, I have not figured out yet. I will help poeple in any way I can, because that is what I am meant to do. It does not matter how hard I have to work to do, because the final outcome is so worth it. This experience will be one that I take with me to remember throughout my profession as a whatever, wherever. If you take time to listen the first time, the problem could be solved right then and there.

My name is Jaime and I am interning at Elwood Jordan's Insurance Agency. I would have to say that my best day at work was March 19th, 2010. This was a good day at work because we were off of school so I could stay there the whole day. I also was able to get much work done because I was there for 6 hours. This is different because usually I can only stay at work for about an hour or two. So this day was extra special because I stayed there all day. This was also my favorite day because I was able to attend their one meeting. This meeting consisted of how the company did in the past year. It was the review of the year and I was invited to go by my mentor. I was also excited because everyone at the office sat down and talked about their part of the company and how well everyone did individually and together as a company. This impacted my future career plans because now I know what happens at a real company and I am with business terms and company updates.

My best day at this place was on May 6 2010. I worked the normal time like I always do but I got a complement from one of my mentors there. That day, well everyday I always wondered if I was doing anything right but with her complement on how good I was doing at my job, made me content. It's not always easy working in a law office for two days a week but I am starting to become much more attuned with the schedule. It's easier in this and in life when you know what you are doing. Hopefully this experience will keep teaching me how to do everything I need to do in order to be a good lawyer. So far I have learned a lot from working here, with daily life as well. Everyday I learn something new and I as grow up I will learn more and more information that will further my career goals and future.

I am Chelsea Winiecki and I am interning at Greatbatch Medical. So far my best day was April 18th. It was over spring break and I got to come in in the morning. I attended two meetings that were very interesting I learned about a new computer system that they want to buy that will help keep track of all information concerning each individual items that get sent in for pacemakers. Also, I got lunch and took notes as if I was really part of the decision about having this computer system in the business. Everyone seemed to love this program and as far as I think they are purchasing this $10,000 dollar system. It really helped me with my future choice because it showed me that I want to be more involved than just being in business. I want to physically help people with problems that they have. This experience helped me realize that I want to help people than be behind a desk. I appreciate everything Greatbatch has done for me and their help will never be forgotten. One thing I learned was that my future will always be changing and it is my job to make sure that all my dreams come true. I would like to become a pediatric nurse and help little children. I realized that I am a sociable, kind, dedicated person and nursing is the right career option for me.
ReplyDeleteI am Eric and my internship was at Alden Pools and Rainbow Play centers. My favorite day at my internship was April 11th, 2011. The store had Step 2 products they wanted be rid of through some sort of a charity event. My mentor had previously instructed me to create a charity event to get rid of the products at no cost. I created the bulk of the project on the 11th. I made a contacts document with emails, web addresses, street addresses, and phone numbers of all the organizations that might be involved. I also prepared a notes document for the basic information to put in to the slide and regarding the event. I made the main presentation in PowerPoint form in a detailed format which included a silent auction at Alden Pools and Play Showroom with snacks, refreshments, and music. It included a door prize, donated products, and step 2 products. The store would have a sale going along with the event. The event would also allow the customers to get to know the employees and the store. Outside the main event I planned to have a charity jar on the counter in the store at all times, and allow people to buy charity papers (jerry shamrocks, tops shoes) that said they donated. To advertise the event I listed the media outlets that could help, Alden Advertiser, WACS News, Buffalo News, Ch.(2,4,7), and YNN. I decided to use the community calendar of events and make flyers detailing the event around town. Then I made a slide that listed what should be listed in the flyer such as who, what, when, where, and why. Finally I made a list of possible candidates to be the beneficiary and finally decided on the make a wish foundation. This was my best day because it was exactly what I looking for in the internship, direct marketing experience with creative freedom. This day may impact my future career plans by influencing me to stick with my marketing program in college.

ReplyDeleteMy name is Kahla and my internship is taking place at the Erie County Home. The best day of my internship occurred on May 21st, 2011. During this day I worked with some of the residents and we played games of volleyball. Since many of the residents needed assistance, we modified the game to slow it down by using balloons. The residents had so much fun since they were able to move and be active. This was my favorite day because I was able to work closely with the residents and make them happy and getting the activity they seldom get. I could tell the residents really appreciated my interactions with them. I feel this day will help me with my future plans in life because it demonstrated a life lesson that too often many people don't live by. Treating people with respect and working to make them happy is a fulfilling feeling and if I live my life by those actions I know I will be successful.
ReplyDeleteMy name is Ethan Schrodt and I am involved in an internship at the Hauptman-Woodward Medical Research Institute (HWI). At HWI I primarily do bioinformatics research on ribosomal proteins and then present my findings to my supervisor and peers. I’ve had several really great days at the institute, but my best day was probably March 27, 2012. This was the day that I first gave a formal presentation of what I had found thus far in my research.
ReplyDeleteFor the past several weeks I had been gathering information about Ribosomal Protein L27. It had been difficult with little direction from Dr. Duax, but once I understood the processes I quickly began getting a lot of data. The few weeks leading up to this day I tried to organize all of my findings in a PowerPoint presentation. I had never seen anyone else give presentations (as they were usually on Fridays when I wasn’t there.) The previous Tuesday Dr. Duax pre-screened my slides and gave me basic criticisms on which to improve for my big day. Finally the 27th rolled around. I arrived at HWI about 2:30 (since I had left CEIP to go in early) and several of us were presenting at 4:00. I sat down and thought I could do a little more research and throw it into my presentation around 3:45. I was working with the program PyMol trying to get pictures of L27 to add when I asked one of my peers, Jordan, about how to change the background color on the program. Our discussion led me to learning even more about PyMol which changed what I knew about my protein’s interactions with the others. When I learned all of this I was extremely worried because I had only 45 minutes to fix all of what I knew and put it into the presentation. I worked as fast as I could and am proud to say that I finished. The presentations came next. I happily volunteered to go first and began the slides. The constructive criticism I received during my presentation was amazing. There was so much that I was able to build upon that when I was finished I was probably the happiest person in Buffalo. Dr. Duax pointed out something to research into further during the presentation that really brought my excitement to a new level as well. Afterwards others presented and I was able to pick up different formatting things and learned about their proteins as well. When we were finished we all returned to our research for a little bit before we left for the day.
The reason I classify this day as the best is because of the experience I received. Presenting in front of my peers truly gave me a heightened sense of what I was doing and made me understand better ways to present information. On top of my new presentation skills, though, I also really felt how truly important the research I was doing is. This isn’t something you get in a classroom. It’s real research that will eventually have a real impact on the world. The concept took a long time to grasp, but it finally hit me on this day. What is even more is that I am doing it like a real scientist. Dr. Duax wasn’t holding my hand throughout my research in telling me everything I had to do and what to look for. This day was so special because it all finally paid off.
As far as this day’s impact on my future plans is concerned, it doesn’t really change them, but instead amplifies my want and drive to achieve them. Being involved in research is something that I will be experiencing a lot in college. I was warned, though, that research was tedious and not for everyone. I never doubted it was something that I wanted to be involved with, though, and my experience on this day, researching and presenting my data, truly solidified in my mind that chemical engineering (with a focus on bio)is the place for me.

ReplyDeleteMy name is Dylan Phelps. I am currently interning at Alden Family Dentistry. My best day ever was when I went on the field trip to Dr. Mike's. The date was 1/12/12 and went for 8 hours! That day I observed crown prep, a filling, and the normal procedures. When I was observing Dr. Mike I realized how good of a dentist he was and how quick he was at the procedures. Dr. Mike is a teacher at UB and he allowed me to practice drilling on past extracted teeth! I practiced drilling for over an hour and didn’t want to stop. I attempted to do crown prep and a filling removal. This was my favorite day because I got to practice drilling on teeth! Before the trip to Dr. Mike's I was feeling discouraged about going into the dental field. After being with Dr. Mike I realized this is the career I want to go into. With no experience at crown prep or no knowledge of the at all I have to say, I made a pretty good crown (lol).
ReplyDeleteBeing at Dr. Frank's I was always used to very little patients but at Dr. Mike's there were nonstop patients and I was never board! That really helped confirm becoming a Pediatric Dentist is what I want to become.
This day impacted my future career plans because it confirmed it was the career I want to go into! I am confident going to college that I will be successful in the career I choose.

I came in at 1:00 PM and immediately got to work like usual. However, what made this day particularly unusual is the fact that after I got there, I was only able to work behind the counter filling prescriptions for about an hour. I was working with Ann for that hour until Ron arrived to take his shift at 2:00 PM.
As soon as he arrived, I was immediately set on multiple tasks. First, I was sent to do seven new profiles for patients. This task involved heavy use of my computer skills and what I had learned about the pharmacy database program (QS1). I carefully started putting in information for what prescription drugs each person should take. I was essentially a pharmacist at that point. It felt like a great responsibility and the fact that I was trusted with such a vital task made me excited for my future at Alden Pharmacy.
I finished that task in about an hour and went back to Ron where he had more waiting for me. I was then asked to make a suspension for a dog. I started by grinding pills with a mortar and pestle. I had to get exactly 9.00 grams of medicine. I used an electronic scale to achive the mass of 9.01 grams which Ron deemed to be within the necessary margin of error. I then had to mix the medicine with a suspension liquid and flavoring because of how bitter it was. Shortly after completing that, I made another suspension. This time, it was for a baby; therefore the mass was much more critical. I felt like a chemist, trying to get the exact amount and mixing compounds to make the medicine right. I was very interested and excited with what I was doing.
At that moment, I knew that this is the career for me. It made me really want to persue pharmacy. This was my best day at Alden Pharmacy!

I was at Beaver Meadow in North Java. They are people that help give a place that people can see nature. All I have to do at that day is sit with the person that grabbed the money since it was a paid event. I just sit next to the woman and after she checked them out, I grabbed their zip code and info about how they found out about Beaver Meadow. This date was the date of the maple festival which is the best day because I got to ask people what they think of Beaver Meadow. This day did not impact anything because I did nothing there that made me do anything different with my job. It did not impact because the days that did impact me was not my favorite days. They were boring and not fun at all. I will say that this will not impact me, but was a good experience that I did. I will have to say that CEIP was a good idea all around.
My name is Kayla K and throughout my experience I have had many internships. My best day was at the Erie County Home on 2/8/12. On this day it started off just like any other day. I arrived at my internship and met with Bev Malona. On this day she had a class and I got to sit in on it. During the classes she is usually talking about the paperwork the nurses have to do, and teaching them all about diseases and how to prevent them. Today was different. Today she had a class of new nurses and old nurses. This class was more of a discussion for the nurses to talk to each other. At this one they were all telling their experiences and then the old nurses were giving the new nurses advice about what they need to know and how to deal with certain circumstances. They had a very detailed discussion and they learned a lot about each other and what to expect at the work place.
ReplyDeleteThis was my best day because I learned a lot about the medical field. It was also my best day because it was nice to listen to people talking back and forth to each other about different circumstances that was happening and giving each other advice on how to fix the problem the best way. I also consider this my best day because I thought it was really nice that they got to give each other advice and that they all got together to talk about the problems and the best way to fix them. I also consider it my best day because I think that it is really important that you can talk to your coworkers about problems and they will all help you try to fix the problem to the best of their ability.
This day may impact my future career plans because it showed me that even in the workplace people are willing to help. It also showed me that everyone in the workplace may not get along, but coworkers are here to help. It also showed me that the workplace can be stressful, but if you make the best of it and face the problems you can work things out and it will help make your job less stressful.

My name is Kayla Greil and my internship took place at the Corfu-Darien Veterinary Clinic. I feel that just about every day was wonderful. This is why it was hard to pick just one day that stood out as my best day. The one that stood out most to me was March 6, 2012. This day was really eventful and also fun. One of the dogs, a sheltie, that came into the veterinarian office needed to have a c-section. She should have been brought in at least a day earlier but the owners wanted to see if she could birth them naturally. The first puppy coming out got its head stuck and wasn't able to come out which caused her to get a c-section. That puppy along with two others didn't make it. The process of a c-section is rather lengthy. You have to start off by making an incision very slowly and carefully so that you don’t cut the uterus. You then pull the uterus out and after it is out, you cut that open very carefully. You have to be careful not to cut any of the sacs that the puppies are in. From there, you proceed to take the sacs out of the uterus. Once the sac is out, you have to immediately rip it off and make sure that it is off of the heads of the puppies so that the puppy can breath. Each puppy has its own individual sac. Once the puppy is out, you have to make sure to rub the puppy roughly and vigorously. Since the mother would do it naturally, we have to simulate it. You then want to use pipets to get the water out of their throats and lungs. Keep rubbing the puppies to make sure that they are breathing and check to see if they have normal tongues. Tie off the umbilical cords with a knot. Keep them under heat for a little while while they adjust to not being in their mother anymore. This was my best day because I was able to help with the c-section. I helped in ripping the sacs off and rubbing them. It was amazing to be able to be a part of the birth of the puppies. I liked the fact that I got to get hands on experience with one of the procedures. It also allowed me to learn how to do the c-section so that when I learn how to do it in college, I will already know the basics. This day impacted my future career plans by allowing me to see what an emergency surgery is like and to see how the procedure is done. I know that I won’t get queasy doing surgeries in the future and that I am able to handle emergency situations. It also allowed me to realize that this is the career path that I want to consider traveling on, and become successful in completing my dreams to become a veterinarian. I am very thankful that I was given the opportunity to have this internship.

ReplyDeleteMy best day was January 9th,2013. Today, I was with Miss Nicole and Miss Leah. That day, my daily cleaning was altered (just for that day, though). I was assigned to cleaning toys. While I was cleaning the toys, I had to put the toys that were in the wrong bins that don't belong. (Yay! No cleaning toilets today!) After snack time, Miss Nicole put out new Play-doh. I spent the rest of my day playing with the new Play-doh with the new kids.
This was my best day yet because I had learned about hard work. Hard work pays off. That holds true in that case. After I cleaned toys, I got to play with Play-doh with the kids.
I can relate to this in the future, since my internship is through. I realize that with hard work comes before play. And that is rewarding.
Quoting Sigmund Freud here:"Happiness is love and work."
I believe I will use what I learned on my best day in the future.

My name is Mitchell Lezynski and I currently have an internship position with Moog, Inc. They specialize in manufacturing of items for military, space, and medical purposes. Overall, my experience there has been phenomenal and it has taught me a great deal of lessons. However, January 6, 2014 stands out to me the most. I was still early on in my internship and just learning how to maneuver my way through the building. I met up with Lance and he decided to take me on a tour of the building. As we walked, he explained all of the different areas and jobs people had to do. Also, he explained how many of the machines there operated, including 3-D printers, CNC Machines, etc. It was very interesting and I thoroughly enjoyed it. In addition to the tour, I was explained to some of the major projects that Moog works on. One of which is the actuator for rockets and missiles (basically the control system for each aircraft). I was also able to see many of the smaller projects that were completed, such as models of rockets and military weaponry. Not only was I amazed at what was before me, but I was stunned by the amount that it had peaked my interest. I never knew what I actually wanted to be when I grow up. Being at Moog and living the experience has allowed me to realize that I want to be in a similar atmosphere. Basically, it has amplified my desire to attend a four-year college, receive my degree, and become an engineer. Without this experience, I would still be wondering what I wanted to do with my life.

My name is Jesse Norberg and I have an internship at Lancaster Knives Inc. I would have to say that the best day I had was on January 3, 2014. I started a Google Sketch-up drawing for a floor plan of the facility. Some of it was very complicated because I didn't exactly know the key for the measurements of the outdated map. When I was done doing it I realized it was not as difficult as I thought it had been. I thought this was my best day because it gave me something to do and it let me do what I thought was fun. I did not finish this in one day, because it was such a big project and I also had to type a proposal with the drawing. I think that was a huge impact on my future career. It helped me understand what I wanted to do in the future. It also helped me place some building blocks on my decision of what I want to be in the future. Overall this day I thought was the best day because it showed me what I could do without any guidance and how far I can push my knowledge in design and constructing. (My knowledge was not push very far but it was moved forward some.)

It was a very cold rainy in the middle of the winter. We were headed to a job site when we received an emergency call. The call was from an elderly woman who had lost heat in her house. We arrived at the house to find that the breaker panel shorted out its' wire that was powering the furnace. Therefore we replaced the wires to restore power to the furnace and this gave the house heat again. This was my best day yet because I was able to help a woman get heat back into house when she desperately needed it. This made me feel like my job was important to people and that they needed us. This has definitely made me want to help more people and to continue working in this field so I can help more people when they need me. After multiple emergency calls after that one I have gained much knowledge in the electrical, heating and cooling fields. Because of these people needing our helping LJL has had a 24/7 emergency call policy for years and this policy will continue for years to come.

It was a day during spring break. i went in the morning and it was very busy. The phone was ringing nonstop. It was the first day that i answered the phones and i learned a lot. I'm not use to talking to random people on the phone Talking about medical problems. It was a day that i had to push myself to get out of my comfort zone. Even though it was tough this was probably my best day there.
Well this definitely made me not want to go into office spaces. I cant answer phones and make appointments all day. Its too boring for me.
Event though this isn't what im going for ive learned alot in the office part. You have to be confident in your self and show whose the boss.

I was invited by Dr. Schindler to attend a meeting at the primary school with him and a few members of the group. We were working in Mrs. Yates classroom with the iLearn system. We quickly set it up and ran a few tests to make sure everything was working. We were part of a five station rotation the students went through. Every student had a chance to use the iLearns and they all seemed to enjoy it. The system worked flawlessly. This was one of the first stable tests and sets us on a great path to improve in the future. This was my best day because I finally was able to see the iLearns in action with the kids. It showed me what hard work and effective communication can produce. Also, it has given me high hopes for the future of this project. Working on this project has shown me the real world application of the research and development process. I think that it is exciting and fun to solve problems through this method and extremely satisfying when everything works out. Even when things don't work as they should the challenge of the problem just drives me to work harder. I would like to go into a research and development position in the future.

I have been printing with the new 3D Printers that we just bought. I already printed a functional Rubik’s cube. My next print was a redesign for the current iLearns puck. It was an old feta cheese container that was taped and rubber banded together. I sent a couple of days designing my version of the puck in Inventor and printed as soon as I could. I hoped the components would fit perfectly inside because I didn’t have the actual puck to test if it would fit. In a couple of weeks my design was put to the test at the Primary school. It worked without any problems. My design was being used which made me ecstatic. This made me realize my designs for anything I work on can be used. I never really thought about that before. My design could be the default design to base the future versions off of. This experience opened my mind for my career.

My name is Nick Kibler and I am doing an internship at AdvancedCare Physical Therapy of WNY. I would say that my best day was on March 15, 2014. This was my best day because the new physical therapy building had just opened. Now I'd be able to work with patients with more room and equipment. We had been waiting to move in for quite some time. This drew many new patients to AdvancedCare Physical Therapy of WNY. If it wasn't for the new equipment and more patients, I wouldn;t have been able to see physical therapy at its finest. This really made me consider being a physical therapist in the future. I still haven't made up my mind, however this gave me a better understanding of the career.

I am an assistant teacher for the first grade at St. John’s. I work with the students and the teacher as I attend my internship. My “Best Day” was on Valentine’s Day. On holidays, the students are extra excited to be in school. Yes, they may act a little crazier, but it always nice to see them extra happy! On this day, we did many Valentine’s Day activities when I was there. One of the crafts was making butterflies out of paper, sticks, and pipe-cleaners. It’s always interesting to see what each child will do with a craft. Each one always has their unique style. This is something that will never get old to see. The major reason why this was my best day was because at the end of the day, before I left, every student gave me a Valentine’s Day card. They were adorable and made me feel so appreciated by them. The cards were so sweet and they were so excited to give me them. It was so nice to see someone appreciate you so much for the little things you do for them. This day may impact my future career plans because it made me realize that teaching was definitely for me. The feeling that I had when I received those cards could not be replaced by any other feeling. No matter how hard it may be to get a teaching job, I will try my best to get one because I couldn't imagine doing anything else. My internship helped me realize the path in life that I truly would like to take.

Helped prepare the food for the day. Take breakfast inorato
I am Allison Samsel and my internship experience was at the Law Offices of Michael W. Cole PLLC. My “Best Day” was on February 19, 2014 which happened to be my longest day. I was at the office for seven hours during a break. This day was spent doing tedious office tasks like billing clients and filing, but this was also the day that we tackled the office tree (which made an appearance in my final presentation). Kelly and I got the tree, loaded it into the car, unloaded it, and carried it inside the office. It was heavy and pieces of it were breaking all over the place. We tried to hide the “evidence” or the plastic branches and leaves that were still on the driveway. On this day we also ordered food for everyone and spent a considerable amount of time talking and bonding. This was my best day because it was crazy and a lot of fun. This day impacted my future career plans because it showed me what it is like to be in a sort of family with your coworkers and superiors. The environment that I work in will have a large impact on my happiness. I would like to work in an establishment that has a tight-knit staff and feels personal, preferably not a cubicle of my own in a large firm. I hope to find another office family like this in the future.

My name is Courtney Cybulski and my best day at my internship was in early March at Alden Primary School. This was my best day because I was shadowing the special education room. Shadowing may not seem like much of an experience much less a “best day” but what that day consisted of was touching. Rebecca, Dr. Schindler and I were introducing the iLearns technology to the students in the class and the looks on their faces was priceless. I’ve never seen students so excited to learn before. Using the “magic” carpet was more of a game to them rather than a learning tool. This specific experience will impact my future career goals because it helped me realize that the profession that I have chosen to go into is the right one for me. I love watching people learn and the fact that I get to help the process is so exciting and personally rewarding. I do hope that I get to have more experiences like this one.

My name is Mckenzie Gadd and my internship experience was at Ripa's Italian restaurant and banquet hall. My "best day" was on September 18th 2015. This day happened to be my longest day interning and was the best and most interesting day Ive ever had there. I started off the day by talking with Bob and Ray about what had to be done in order to prepare for the banquet that was going to be happening later that day. Once we talked we began preparing and making all the food, it was very hot and got very stressful at times but it was part of the experience and it was something I loved. I got to prepare stuffed shrimp and chicken, mashed potatoes, fresh vegetables, and a variation of different pastries and cakes. The banquet lasted about 3 hours so during that amount of time we had to make sure that food was coming in and out at all times in order to make sure that the customers were satisfied. At the end of the banquet everyone in the kitchen got to sit down and eat the remains of the banquet food and all of it was absolutely delicious. There really wasn't much of anything I can complain about, that day was overall successful. This day impact my future plans greatly, working in a high speed/stress environment wasn't easy but it is something I enjoy and being able to work hard and make great food that people enjoyed and seeing all the customers satisfied is truly something amazing and when I get older I want to be able to do exactly what Bob and Ray did that day except my own creative way. The time I spent with Ray and Bob was unfortunately not long but the lessons I learned and the stuff they taught me will stay with me forever and will help me excel in the field of culinary.
ReplyDeleteI am Delaney Froebel and my internship experience was at three different places! I worked with our schools athletic trainer during football season, then at excelsior orthopedics over the winter and finished at sports rehab over the spring months! My "best day" was probably my first day at excelsior orthopedics! I was at the physical therapy clinic for about 5 hours and learned so much about the profession in just one day! I spent some of the time doing miscellaneous chores like the laundry and cleaning patient tables, however i got to sit on in two really interesting evaluations! One evaluation was for a man who ripped his ackilies tendon and had surgery and then two weeks after he was in rehab and the tendon ripped again so he was coming into excelsior to try to rehab it instead of going through surgery again. The second was a women who had lower back problems (lumbar) and she couldn't sit normally or walk normally, after both of these evaluations they were taken right into the rehab room to start physical therapy. In just an hour and a half session and a few stretching exercises i saw the women with the lower back problem have hope that she would soon be able to walk and sit like a normal person her age. This day impacted my future plans immensely because it showed me what this profession is capable of doing, and how rewarding it is to see someone able to finally do something they have wanted to do for so long after going through therapy. It truly is a job that helps people , something i really love to do. Everyone at the facility was very helpful in explaining things that were going on around me and making me feel like a part of the team. I would love to work in this type of environment after receiving my physical therapy degree. I can't wait to see what the future holds and how amazing it is going to be to help people for a living.
ReplyDeleteMy name is Rachel Helms and I had two internships. One at the Primary School with Mrs. Lasker and the other at Imagination Station. My favorite day was on October 1st when we were in Mrs. Wilson's room to help the students learn the new iLearn program. We had to download the program to the computer then project it on the board then connect it to the handheld device that interacted with the students on the mat. The children had to use the handheld to place it on the correct answer. This was my favorite day because I felt like I accomplished a huge task by helping the special needs children accomplish the simple task that they struggled with so much. It was an awesome feeling seeing the kids smile not only because they go the answer correct but because we made it easier for them to actually understand the task on hand. Just because of this day I knew I wanted to be a part of helping others overcome their difficulties. This day at the primary school showed me just how much i love helping others and helped me realize that i want a career in the medical field to constantly help others. 99/100
ReplyDeleteMy name is Chelsea Buszka and I had two internships. One was at Dr. Stoltiz dentist office and the other was at Precious People Daycare. My favorite day was from last week, June 3rd. I interned at the daycare and helped in the toddler room. I enjoy working in the toddler room the most because the children are old enough to do some things on their own, like eat properly, but still need some assisting. Things I help them with are learning the days of the week, months and colors. It is fun watching the children learn and it is a nice feeling knowing you are helping them. On this day, I realized I enjoy working with children and want to continue this in the future. Doing this internship made me excited for college and being a school psychologist.
ReplyDeleteMy name is Hannah Johnson. I did my internship at Alden Primary School with Mrs.Cometto and her art classes. The date of the best day I had there was May 22nd because that day all of the students and I painted under the tables! The project was to paint upside down on the table like Michelangelo did in the chapel. Today was the best day because the kids had so much fun and I learned new ideas to put into projects and a way to use this experience in the future. I learned to look at projects a different way and put my own creative twist on it like Mrs. Cometto did, while also making it interesting. The kids got to look at this project in a different perspective while also paying attention and enjoying it because it was something different and fun. I hope when I am in my career, I will make my ideas or projects interesting to others so they want to listen and hear more about it. I will take my ideas and put my own twist to them so it is different and stands out compared to potential competition. This internship as a whole taught me a lot that I hope to apply to my future careers.

My name is Zachary Gabbey and interned at Alden Bus Garage. My favorite day was on June seventh, when I did a PM almost completely on my own. Some things I do is check the fluids in the buses, do brakes, change tires on rims, and attempt to do whatever we are working on that day.I enjoy working with my hands and helping out the best I can while I learn what it is like to have a job as a mechanic. On this day, I learned that this is really what I want to do. Doing this internship has made me decide what I want to go to trade school for and that is Auto-Tech.
ReplyDeleteMy name is Jessica Wruck and I interned with Habitat for Humanity. My favorite day was on March fourth, when I went to my first dedication. When we finish building and cleaning houses we take a full day to dedicate the house to the new family. We were dedicating a house on Zittle St to a family from Somalia, who've escape from the war taking place there. I got to get to know the family and taste their types of dishes. I had goat for the very first time and it was delicious! The family was so thankful and the kids were excited to start school here. It truly made me feel happy about myself and I realized that this is something I want to do for a career. Without this internship I would have never known that I wanted to build houses for the community. I plan on continuing my volunteer experience with habitat for the rest of my life.
ReplyDeleteMy name is Jarrett Marx and I have been interning at Scott's of West Seneca for the whole year. It has been a lot of fun interning there. I have been able to learn a lot throughout my time at the shop. My favorite time at the shop was during the month of February. It was when this new guy Jon has been letting me help him out and he has been trying to like throw some jobs at me to try helping me learn which is helpful. It helps me get my hands on and makes me learn faster. Its great that the guys at the shop can joke around and have fun. Working at the shop throughout this year has made me decide that i want to go college and major in Auto Technician.
ReplyDeleteMy name is Savannah Warner and I did my internship at Advanced Care PT in Alden. My best day happened on May 17th and was just recently when a patient came in saying that she had been run over by a water buffalo. The patient told us that when they were down in the Philippines that they went to an ice cream shop. While she was there she saw a water buffalo and wanted to go pet it. So she walked over with ice cream in hand and tried to pet the water buffalo. The water buffalo then kicked her because it obviously did not want to be touched. It was really funny how we all had to go in the back room because we were laughing so hard. Tammy was laughing so hard she was crying. This was the best day because it really helped to calm my nervous about what the other PTs are thinking. This just showed me that they are all human and when a funny traumatic incident like that happens that it's okay to laugh as long as the patient does not see. This will make an impact in my future because it showed a way to keep the professionalism while still having a good time with your co-workers.
ReplyDeleteMy name in Bryan Brown, I am currently working an internship at Sharp Tooling. Throughout my entire experience I would have to say my best day would have been 12/19/16. I would say this was my best day because it marked a turning point of my skills operating a laser marking machine. We received the machine back in November, although I began work right away I really didn't gain a full grasp until December. This machine was not easy to use and took a lot of practice before gaining confidence. The reason 12/19/17 was my best day was because I believe this is the day I realized I was really getting good a lasering parts. The main challenge I faced was to cut out pieces of material to make necklaces out of. In the past we had purchased the necklace blanks but due to a shipping hold up caused by the holidays we had to improvise. After about 45 minutes I had a program ready to cut this material, since I had never cut material this thick it took a lot of experimenting. Eventually I completed the task and made the necklace blanks. Beyond improving my skills this opened up new possibilities for the company as now our options were limitless. Later in my internship I would go on to create various shaped necklaces in the same way I created the first ones. I felt that this day both opened up new possibilities for myself and marked a turning point in my internship. This day may impact my future because it taught me to always keep trying and how to problem solve. In an engineering environment these skills are essential, proving to myself I have these skills has greatly boosted my confidence when attempting all sorts of tasks. I believe this will help me as I enter the workforce.
ReplyDeleteThe fact that you are accomplishing these objectives as junior in high school is incredible. Perhaps the biggest legacy you will leave won't be the specific engineering feats you have accomplished (although they are soooo excellent). I think the biggest impact will be from the fact that you and some of your peers have changed the conversation about what high school students are capable of accomplishing. You have helped raise the bar in a significant way. Now it is up to people like me to keep it up there for others to strive for.

DeleteMy name is Bobby Meyer and I have been interning at a sheet metal production facility called Radco. The best day that I can remember was on February 24, 2017. The entire week the shop was backed up with orders and not enough help to get it done, so they asked me to come in early on a Saturday morning at 7am to help them fill an order. That morning that I came in, my mentor told me that we needed to cut and shape over 400 pieces of ductwork for an order that was set to be picked up that night. So for 9 hours we stayed in the shop constantly making duct only stopping for lunch so that we could fill an order as fast as possible. After we had finished, my mentor mentioned to me that without my help he would have never got that order done. So with this experience, I learned that sometimes more time and effort is going to be needed to come out with results that make others happy, and when you make others happy production can increase. This particular day made me realize that you can not put in minimum effort and expect things to get done.
ReplyDeleteKeep the effort up and I'm sure you will produce many great results. My suggestion is to always give your best effort. You have been given talents and to only apply half to get by would be a shame. Choose noble goals and pursue them to the best of your ability and you'll live a very happy life.
DeleteMy name is Samantha Greenwald and I am currently interning at the VA Hospital in Batavia. I would have to say my best day spent at my internship was today, May 31st, 2017. It was probably the most ordinary day spent there, but it was also one I knew I'd remember for a long while. Most of the guys were sitting in the common room watching T.V. or sleeping. My mentor had stepped out to run some errands for a bit so I just chilled and sat at the table with two men, Freddie and David. We were all telling jokes and just messing around with one another until I asked Freddie the simplest of questions- what branch he was in. Little did I know he would tell me his entire life story mostly about the time spent in the War, the girls he had met, and the friendships he created. It was at this moment that I realized I was having more fun then I'd ever had. Seeing all of the emotions ponder through his mind while he told the story was just incredible and it's for that reason in particular that I want to continue into a career such as this one. I want to be able to make an impact in someone's life, or simply to hear what the world has offered to them. To me, that's the most rewarding feeling.
ReplyDelete98/100
Some days, in the emotionally tough line of work you are preparing for, you need to focus on the good days like this. You need to remember that each of those people you help has a life story. They had goals and challenges and all kinds of life's stuff. And on that particular day, you and your patient Freddie were brought together for a reason. I am sure you made a difference to him as well.
DeleteHi! My name is Hannah Kelley and my internship was at the Alden Primary School with a kindergarten teacher named Mrs. Dawn Speranza and her class. My best day at my internship had to have been my first day there. My first day was on October 12th of 2016. This was the first day I had ever met my mentor and her students. When I walked into her classroom the students didn't even know who I was and they were still happy to see a new face in the classroom. The students were very welcoming. Right away they began asking me question about where I was from and why I was there. They were adorable. This was my best day because the students made me so happy when they welcomed me without even knowing me. This day definitely impacted my career because this makes me want to have students of my own that are so welcoming to the teacher when they meet me at the beginning of every year. I want to continue in this career because I want to be able to impact these kids lives by helping them get through their kindergarten year and them growing up to be young adults as they grow older.
ReplyDeleteToday I had a chance to stop into the Primary School and ate lunch with some 2nd graders. (It is my daugheter Zoe's birthday). I watched and listened to them as they talked to me and we got to know each other. I got to thinking about how each one of them, with their pasts, dreams, hopes, skills, ... will be a high school student and then a senior before we can blink an eye. It helped me realize how every one of us has a story and value and deserves an opportunity to be loved and educated to meet our potential. I hope you keep your "Best Day" feeling in mind as your move through your career phases. The kids are worth it.
DeleteMy name is Jocelyn Borynski and my intership was at the Alden Middle School with Mrs.Zelasko. My best day was January 27. I believe that my best day with Mrs. Zelasko was during the second marking period going into the third and I was able to spend most of my day with Mrs. Zelasko. I was able to embody an entire day as her intern and see the differences between her classes. I also enjoyed that I was able to learn how she changes her teaching styles between the different grades.

My name is Michael Handley and my internship was at Niagara Frontier Custom Fabrication. The best day I had at my internship was on 5/29/17. The reason this day was the best for me was because i was able to weld this huge piece of sheet metal. I mig welded it and they said my welds were looking good. Another thing they said was that it takes skill to be able to weld on top of a ladder which is what I was doing. This will help my career choice because it shows that i can do nice thing and nice work. I also was very lucky to be able to have such a great place to go for my internship because it might be what I go into right after high school.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work Mike. The fact that you are leading your brother and a friend to intern on their own time, in the sheet metal trade, is incredibly impressive. You are all showing you are reliable, interested, and ready to add value to a business.
DeleteMy name is Bailee Winiecki and my internship was at the Law Offices of Michael Cole. The best day of my internship was April 4th, 2017. It was my Day in the Life trip. I woke up and went directly to the office. I helped open up and then got started on my daily duties. I answered the phones and wrote deeds, wills, and whatever else I was asked to. It was a great bonding experience. I got closer with not only Mr. Cole but his paralegal Christine. It was the best day because it was the day I wasn't just an intern I was their sort of equal. This day has impacted my future plans because I know if I need a recommendation or help with law school I can call them up for help. I was very blessed to have this opportunity at a great place with amazing people.
ReplyDelete99/100
Bailee, you have earned glowing evaluations consistently and thereby earned the very meaningful letter of recommendation when you need it. You are a very good example of how certain high school students are really ready to get to work even before, well before, graduation. It is outstanding that the experience has motivated you to continue on in your education with confidence.
DeleteMy name is Megan Gabbey, and my internship was at Hospice, although my best day was actually when I went with Sam Greenwald to her internship at the VA Hospital on 3/22/17. While at the hospital, I was able to meet some of the veterans and learn a little bit about some of their lives. It was nice to get to hear some of their stories of their experiences in basic training and the wars that each of them fought in. My favorite part about them was their sense of humor. They were all very sarcastic- something I found that we have in common. It was just nice to kind of kick back and be able to appreciate what the veterans did for us and find out a little bit about how they got to be where they are now. I'll use this experience in the future when I need to listen to and treat my patients because I'll need to be very good at listening and paying attention to detail. It will also be helpful because I know how to talk to the patients. I'm glad I went to Sam's internship and experienced some of the things she was able to do with the veterans.

My name is Hannah Ries and my internship was at Imagination Station. My favorite day at the daycare was on December 7, 2017. This was one of the first times the preschool students I had called me 'Ms. Hannah'. Before this, I was just referenced by the kids as the 'other teacher' or would ask why we had so many teachers. Once they got to know me pretty good, that's when all of that changed. I knew I loved my internship when I made those personal connections with the kids. I plan to go to ECC in the fall and study sociology and hopefully become a social worker, so helping these kids and watching them grow means a lot to me. I went from a stranger to them to me seeing them and them running up to me and telling me these ridiculous stories I most of the time don't understand but still act interested so they stay happy. All I've wanted to do for a career was make others happy and leave an imprint on their lives, and I feel like with this type of internship, I've succeeded.

My name is Jen Trybuskiewicz and my internship was at Ripa's Restaurant. My best day was the day I first learned to make pasta. It was such an eye-opening experience for me. It was the first real experience I had learning how to cook. I have loved the many laughs with Bob in my time being here. I cannot wait to finally get to start practicing on my own in the culinary arts. I hope to continue to intern at Ripa's after this class ends and to eventually obtain a job at this establishment. I rate my blog post a 100/100.
ReplyDeleteMy internship was at North Star Farms in Whales/East Aurora, which is a horse farm. My name is Alexis Burke and the best day at my internship was on 3/18/17 which was when the colt was born. It was my favorite because I got to see how everything works and how chaotic things can be but also seeing the baby take its first step was something I can’t explain. Also what made this day the best was being with my coworkers and the laughs we had. The one girl mistaken the colt for a girl at first so we were all excited to have a little philly but then we found out that she was a he. We still love him the same and he’s so much fun. He is way bigger now and has his own little personality. When I get older I hope to have young horses of my own and watch them grow just like I did with Miro.
ReplyDeleteMy best day ever was the first day of my internship because I just watched and played along instead of teaching the kids. However the second day was the toughest because then I was on my own with a group of 10 kids aged from 10-12 years old. Overall my internship was a fun learning experience
ReplyDeleteMy name is allissa and my internship location was at the Alden Primary School, in Mrs. Yates kintergarden classroom. My best day in the classroom was right after Mrs.Yates was allowing me to lead her lessons and help her out with teaching the class. The first time she had me teach a lesson by myself. I was very nervous, i knew she would help me if I needed that but I so badly just wanted to get it perfect the first time. My lesson I had, was math, which is not my strongest. I had to teach about the different sizes, colors, patterns, and shapes of items and teach them how to sort. It was a little difficult to get the students to see multiple ways or sorting but by the end of the lesson they got pretty good at it. I was happy it was not a complete disaster. This was only the beginning of many more lessons I am bound to teach after school! I am excited
ReplyDeleteMy name is Owen Kissell, and my internship was at Deluxe Laserworks. As a matter of fact, my "best" and worst day was yesterday. THe date was June 6th, 2018. Overall the day was good as soon as I got to Deluxe. Everything was running smooth as possible, and perfect as can be. After about an hour of working, my boss Andy comes in and tells me that his mother bought an extra cake, and said theres a cake in the fridge so eat it all. At first I laughed and said "No way she actually bought a cake". Well, being Owen, I proceeded to walk to the fridge and well there it was. A beautiful 8 in thicc, by a foot wide cake sat there. After it was all over, it was probably the best cake ever. I think this impacts me in sense if I'm ever an business owner, I would buy funny things for my employees.
ReplyDeleteMy name is Stephen Sojka. My best Day at PAC was by far the first day I went to it. Everyone was very friendly and it made me a lot less nervous than when I got there. There was a lot going on so it was difficult for me to get a handle on the chaos but it was a lot easier with everyone helping me out. I got the hang of it very quickly. This made me a lot more comfortable thinking about going into a real accounting job because now I know that the people who work at companies like this are willing to help and are very nice.
ReplyDeleteAfter I was able to fully get myself under control and understand the work I was doing, I was able to do things fast and efficiently. I believe I did very well managing my time and doing different projects at once. Everyone said that I did a very good job getting every job done quickly and getting it done the right way. I think that when I get my real job then I will be a good fit for it.

This year I continued my internship at sharp tooling. Since last June I've been developing our newest Dog tag product. My most exciting day by far was when we received our first order. By this point we had been working on this project for around 8 months and to see the product launch and people pay money for it was truly a unique experience. I really enjoyed the feeling of building something from the ground up. This has influenced my likely career path as one day I plan to become an entrepreneur after gaining experience in industry. I believe it is something truly special to work through all the problems of launching a product and watching it come to fruition.

SurfacePro Distribution Day
On this day, almost the entire ATLAS team assembled for the first time in the 2018-2019 school year with the common goal of distributing SurfacePros to all students in the high school. This was my best day because it was a great experience seeing the ATLAS team all together for nearly an entire day (14 hours for me personally) and seeing every student get their device for the first time. It was a huge success and left me feeling excited for the long year ahead. Unfortunately this did not impact my career plans as I am still pursuing engineering, but it was still a great day in my WBL experience.

During this day we had received an alert that there was a virus going across the school and all we had to do to flush it out was to restart the computers. I think this was my best day because we had to interact with the entire school and got to work together as a team with the entire ATLAS team. This might affect my career by making me look for a more team oriented job.

This was the biggest day for ATLAS by far, nothing compares to the importance of the first Surface Distribution Day for Alden High School. I stayed from early morning to late night, one of the last people to leave and a hefty 13 hours of work under my belt. The day went well and set the tone for my internship, I had to work with many people, make sure I took care of everything they would need, and I had to adapt whenever I ran into an issue. Overall the day went all according to plan, every family that showed up got everything they needed and our new initiative as a student IT team proved worthy of the work ahead of them. While IT may not end up as my career, I know that it is a good backup for me in the future. That day really encouraged me strive for my best while I was on ATLAS duty, an I hope that I have fulfilled such during my short time on the team.
My name is Taylor Grabowski and throughout this year I have been interning over at Alden Middle School. I spent every other day shadowing Mrs. Tryka's 8th grade classroom and assisting her with various tasks. Most days I would grade papers, read aloud to the class, work with small groups, or workshop with students about their writing. All of these opportunities were beneficial and amazing. However, I would have to say my best day would be when I was given the opportunity to go over to the middle school during a full day of classes that Mrs. Tryka had a substitute in for her. Instead of the sub running the class I was given the lesson plans to run the class activities for the day. It was my favorite day because I got to lead classes entirely by myself for the first time.It surprised me how much the kids looked up to me and how respectful they were. The sub even let me write her notes based off of how the class behaved. This day gave me a feel of how running a classroom with that much responsibility is going to feel when I actually become a teacher (hopefully). For my first time running a class by myself I feel proud of how I handled situations and just how the day went overall. The only thing I would change would be my confidence at the beginning of the day. You could tell I started out rusty and got better teaching the lesson as the day went on, but that is expected. This experience truly gave me a confidence boost and a real life taste at the profession I want to go into.

My best day was when Mrs. Fazio and I took the class to the Makerspace rooms. It was my first time going to the rooms that I have heard so much about. The kids were so excited to go play but in reality they were doing hands on learning.
This was my best day because I got to witness my philosophy of education come into practice. The kids were doing hands on work and gaining skills without sitting behind a desk. They could do the things that interested them and problem solve. The students loved their time in the Makerspace rooms and felt like they were relaxing and playing. The time gave them a good brain break and let them be able to participate in cooperative learning and develop social skills.
Being able to see the positive effects of the Makerspace rooms lets me know that this philosophy of education works. Kids become passionate and excited learners again. I will make sure to incorporate lots of hands on and group projects to improve my students social skills and intrinsic motivation.
I have loved my time spent with Mrs. Fazio class. It has solidified my decision to pursue teaching as my career.

My name is Alexander Biniewski and my internship was at Alden High School with the ATLAS Team. The date of my best day was March 13th, 2019. On this day, the ATLAS store opened for the first time. After weeks of planning and preparation we were finally able to open the store to the public. After much anticipation, the first day turned out to be wildly successful with us bringing in just under $100 in sales. This outcome was way above expectations, so it was a very memorable moment. This day showed myself that if I put all my effort into a project, I can see successes from it. It will be inspiration for myself to complete projects in a future career if I am ever having doubts with myself over those projects because I see the successful product, I can create. It has helped me become more confident in the work I am doing.

• This day was the day of device distribution for the Alden High School with surface pros. This was the day that my countless volunteer hours over the summer built up to allowing me to see what all of that work was for.
• This was my best day because I enjoyed talking with everybody that I helped that day and the fun of spending a day with the team.
• This day didn’t really affect my career choice because it made me realize that it’s pretty cool.
My name is Angelica Litostanskiy and my internship was at imagination station child care in Alden NY. The date of my best day was the graduation for pre-school on June 5th, I got to watch them graduate in the middle school. It was good to see them grow from the time when I got there, them learning a lot new things and improving on simple things we taught them. How is best day might impact my future career plans is by setting goals and improving them, if I become a business women I would do and give out more activities for the kids or whatever field I would go into. This taught me to see if I would want to work with kids or not.
ReplyDeleteI did an Internship with my production class at my school. In this class I taught people how to use cameras used tripods at it and do different filming angles. I also got to create my own Mini movies and other information videos for the community. I really enjoyed this style of me being able to work at my own pace and get my projects done in my own time. I learned many things from this internship such as leadership ,communication and so much more.
ReplyDeleteWell done Zach! And here is a link to some of your work ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RbKACh0e-DM
DeleteMy name is Eric Cybulski and my internship was at the Alden Primary School or Alden Middle School. I'm not quite sure of the exact date of my best day but the best day for me was when I made multiple how to videos in 1 day and submitted them to all teachers via email. Whenever I saw these teachers, they all thanked me as they were able to make more lessons with these tools of learning. I felt so good that I was able to be a big help around the school. This best day won't exactly impact my future plans as I'm not going for a major involving these things. This was a very helpful internship I had as I learned quite a few things that will help me in my future.
ReplyDeleteHello! My name is Natalie Jennings and I interned at Greenfields Health & Rehabilitation Center in the OT and PT clinics. My best day at this internship was November 7th, 2019. This was my favorite experience I had at Greenfields because I observed a PT group therapy session in the clinics pool. It was very intriguing to me how the PT conducted a group therapy session. Patients did activities such as weighted bicep curls, weighted punches, along with other stretches and exercises. I was taught about all the benefits of water therapy including reduced joint pain and improved blood circulation. This was a great experience because the patients were having fun while doing their therapy session that often gets monotonous. It was great to see the PT having fun with patients while working. This experience showed me that this career is rewarding and diverse. I decided to go to college to become an Occupational Therapist because I hope to heal patients and enjoy doing so.

Throughout the 2019 - 2020 school year, I have been in charge of the social media accounts for Alden Football, Alden HS, WACS NEWS, and Alden Reads. Although it may seem easy since my internship is happening right at Alden High, it was extremely difficult. My name is Allie Petschke and I am soon to be graduation senior! Throughout my WBL journey, I have had several 'Best Days'. I would have to say that my best day happened in the beginning of September when Coach Currin asked me to help manage the football social accounts. At first I was a little hesitant, but I never thought it would open the amount of doors that it has. A simple question has lead to me running way more accounts than I ever imagined, meeting Josh Allen, and completely changing my major in college. If it wasn't for WBL, I would be going to college for childhood education, only to realize I can NOT control 25 little kids by myself! The day was nothing special, just one question. A question that has honestly changed my life. I realized how much I loved football and have since to decided to attend the University at Buffalo for sports communication. This day made the uncomfortable, comfortable. I realized that taking a risk and stepping out of my comfort zone, I stepped into my comfort zone. The field, the lights, and the football atmosphere was perfect. I found where I wanted to call home for the next years After being at every home and away game, sadly the season came to an end. I will never forget the memories I made on the field, however I know that there are way more to come. I am so beyond blessed that Mr. Currin took a chance and allowed me run the social accounts. If it was not for him, my life would be so different. As I look forward to the end of this week, I am sad. My high school journey is over. The social accounts will be turned over and I am no longer in charge of them. Although it is a HUGE relief, I am also very sad to let go of a part of me that made senior year so special. Thank you to everyone who helped me along the journey. I will never forget the cultural changes made at Alden High School, because of WBL.

Throughout the school year, I worked as an IT helper at the ATLAS desk. My favorite days were when people cam in with problems throughout the year. It was fun to interact with people and talk to them. Also, it was a good time to work on listening skills and some trouble shooting skills. I enjoyed being at the ATLAS desk almost every day and helping kids out with simple and complex problems. If it wasn't for ATLAS, I would have truly not known how to work cohesively as a group and as an individual. Working as a group made projects and tasks a lot easier for me and it reduced some of the pressure and work load on me. It also forced me to talk to people and push to make sure they had their part of the work done or it would have never been possible to complete tasks as a team or a group.
